Kenny Neal
Saturday, May 10, 2008
10 pm start time
Kenny Neal stands tall among the younger generation of blues players. His individual brand of blues, featuring a combination of
Louisiana swamp blues, funky rhythms and soul-deep vocals, powered by his slashing guitar playing and loping harmonica, puts him
at the forefront of contemporary blues players. When I picture Louisiana swamps, oil rigs, Mardi Gras, alligators, Cajuns, voodoo
and filet gumbo, soulful musical traditions come to mind. It’s these that have shaped Kenny Neal, and molded him into the talent that he is today.

Anthony Gomes
Saturday, May 17, 2008
10 pm start time
Anthony has the set of world class pipes and singing stylings to
make his songs come to life. But the guitar super freaks in the crowd reveled in the volcanic, white-hot, shredderific phrases he was laying down. Gomeshad no problems in
playing the guitar slinger image to the hilt. He can throw down the wicked riffage of a Eddie Van Halen shredfest, while laying ahot slab of funk on the nights platter of deep fried Blues/Rock!

Jason Isbell
Thursday, May 29, 2008
9:30 pm start time
Jason Isbell may still be young, but he’s packed an enormous amount of musical experience into his 28 years. Growing up in
a family of musicians, he absorbed everything he heard and began channeling it into guitar at age six and piano at 12. For the past
six years, Isbell was one of three frontmen for the critically acclaimed Drive-By Truckers (DBT)—and although fans may have been shocked
by his leaving the band in April, once you hear his solo debut Sirens Of The Ditch (which was co-produced by Isbell and DBT’s Patterson Hood)
it will only confirm that Isbell has his own unique voice.

Debbie Davies
Friday, May 30, 2008
10 pm start time
“She wields an electric guitar as if it were a wand.” - Los Angeles Times
“Davies playing is extraordinary - full of propulsion and energy and melodic invention…” People Magazine
Growing up in Los Angeles in the 1960’s, she found that being a female guitar player meant only one thing: acoustic guitar.
Electric guitars were still toys meant only for boys. But when Debbie heard the sounds of the British blues-rock bands, particularly
the electric guitar of Eric Clapton with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, she became completely captivated. Going against the grains of
society’s accepted roles of the time, Debbie pursued her dream with the passion of an artist and the soul of a rebel.

Bonerama
Saturday, June 14, 2008
10 pm start time
Billing themselves as “The Masters of New Orleans Brass Funk Rock,” Bonerama starts off their album, Bringing It Home,
the way a funk album should start, with a live introduction ala James Brown. In fact, the entire album was recorded live at Tipitina’s
Uptown in New Orleans, but it doesn’t have any of the pitfalls of a live recording. By the tone and texture of the recording, you’d think
it was recorded in a studio if it weren’t for the muted applause between songs and the palpable live energy of this rock-ass band.
